The Big Day Out festival have pulled their second Sydney event, with the organisers responsible admitting this morning that they were “perhaps a bit too ambitious”.
Originally, Big Day Out planned on hosting two Sydney show days back to back - the ever popular Sunday the 26th of January - better known as Australia Day and a second show on Monday the 27th of January (which is a public holiday)It was announced this morning that the show day planned for Monday 27th January will now consolidate into the Sunday 26th January Australia Day festival.
Festival promoter Ken West, (the promoter who is believed to have sold his share of the event to Soundwave's AJ Maddah recently, had said prior to the artist announcement that the two Sydney shows were a gamble, but they felt they had the capacity for it... Another lesson that gambling is bad.
Today, organisers said that Big Day Out was "looking into a possible extended capacity" for the consolidated Sunday event...But nothing can be confirmed yet.
Tickets for the Monday 27 event are automatically valid for the Sunday 26 date, but anyone holding tickets to the Monday 27 that can't make it to the Sunday, have the option to swap it for a date in another city or opt for a refund.
