"If you want something done right, sometimes you just have to do it yourself". In a world filled with false gurus and misguided leaders, so goes the mantra of the New York duo Walker & Royce. In order to grow, one often has to look inward, and the pair set out on a trail of self-discovery and advancement. Their journey has resulted in a diverse album that evokes a range of emotion and fervor, one that can be appreciated both on the way to a club as well as feverishly dancing to it in one. Walker & Royce's signature production is in exceptional form on their solo tracks, such as "Why Tho", "Warkin It", "Best Track Ever" and "Sunday". The way they contrast heavy, low-end bass and beats with pristine melodies arises from the first thing they ask themselves when they fire up their studio: "Will we play this?" The pair has also continued to push the boundaries of their minted formula for a bigger purpose, enlisting several distinct vocalists and collaborators to captivating effect. The legendary Green Velvet lends his vocal talent to "Rub Anotha Dub", and longtime friend Dances With White Girls appear on two memorable tracks, including the hit single "Take Me To Your Leader". Other collaborators such as Sophie Grophy, OnCue, Forrest and JPatt each introduce their own individual elements to the album, rounding out the varied tones and feelings that comprise the "Self Help" masterpiece. A little more subdued than the opening track it's a bittersweet emotive take on an electronic love song, Sure repeating All I want is you over TCTS' signature subtle, layered production. Trust takes it back to the club, a chunky beat and classic hi-hat propelled by metallic synth stabs, while rolling closer 'Forward' is house music at its very best.

Taylr Swft

He's ridden us raw with his naked piano, made our booties clap so hard we've needed medical care, shown us his titsss and he's even taken us to the mo… Wherever that is. Now Belgian wunderkind Kill Frenzy is about to flip the biggest switch of his career and whisk us away on his most exciting, most extensive dirtybird adventure yet: His long-awaited debut album Taylr Swft. Famed for his ability to carve carnal drama from one smouldering 808 sermon and a sleazy panty-dropping vocal loop, here we find Sebastian Vanschoonbeek developing his uncompromising, ghetto-bound repertoire with serious maturity, depth and class. Building on his well-established bass-laced bedrock, each of these cuts flex with dynamics that will find favour with all house and techno connoisseurs and do so with complete consistency as a whole body of work… hell, they work so well dirtybird bossman VonStroke is almost reluctant to release them. "I'm almost sad to start sharing the new Kill Frenzy album with everyone else because it has been my secret weapon all summer. At one point I was playing seven tracks from the album in the same set, it was almost embarrassing. I'm very fickle about choosing what I play and this album is amazing." Proof of Kill Frenzy's next-levelism is evident in every single direction; the cavernous thundering march of All Night Long, the bouncy techno fluctuations of Inflation, the sultry deep house dish XXX, the sheer tech tenacity and roof-burning electro-fication of Lava, the delicate jazz keys and purring sub bass of So Fine… The list goes on. Press play, then press it again for good measure: debut albums often dangerously dice with displays of inconsistent dexterity, but with Taylr Swft Kill Frenzy has carefully created a collection that completely makes sense of his past work while staring guilefully into an exciting future. A bona fide dirtybird document that confirms Kill Frenzy's position as one of electronic music's boldest creators, Taylr Swft is everything you could possibly want from a modern day album: dancefloor gold, depth, range and an unswerving narrative. Get to know.

ON LY OU

What do you do when it looks like you’re finally realising your life’s dream of making it in techno; when you’re at long last turning up on the playlists of the scene’s biggest DJs and being whisked to all corners of the globe to play to packed-out, rapturous dancefloors? For Colchester based electronic producer and multi-instrumentalist Dominic Gentry aka Attaque it was the moment to hang up the headphones and make a beautiful electronica record with breathtaking songs, ethereal textures, intelligent melodies and not a single club track in sight. That record is ON LY OU – due for release on October 24th via etcetc. ON LY OU is a remarkable debut that marries Attaque’s mastery of forward-thinking electronica, shoegaze and heartfelt pop. The record seamlessly glides from the euphoric to the more intimate and emotive. A born musician and electronic music devotee since his early teens, it was in late 2011 when Gentry conceived the Attaque moniker. Radio 1 and Mixmag heaped praise on his early techno releases as he appeared on some of Europe’s coolest electronic labels: Kitsune, Turbo, Boys Noize and Bad Life, a revered Boiler Room DJ set followed soon after. It was a couple of months later after Attaque had just played his first show in Japan when he came home to the UK and realised he no longer felt inspired to make 4/4 music for 5 am dark, sweaty raves. He called time on touring and locked himself away for a full year to craft his debut artist offering. For ON LY OU, Gentry has amassed contributions from some outstanding young vocalists, with the album featuring Adam Pleas (Qtier - London), Yannick Meyer (Native Young, Cape Town) and Daniel Hunter (Analog Rebellion - Aledo, Texas). ON LY OU is an album full of ambition and promise through which Attaque succeeds in justifying his status amongst the brightest names in the electronic scene.

Beats & Business EP

Fresh from his recent Deep Down & Defected compilation, Sonny Fodera returns to DFTD with his ‘Beats & Business EP’. The dark, no-nonsense, ‘Where You At’ opens up with deep penetrating kicks, offset with subtle vocals leading you to exactly where the party is at. ‘Let Me Be’ on the other hand is a groovy bassy affair, demonstrating once again the deep diversity of one of the scenes most prolific underground and technical producers.

For Club Play Only Vol. 3

The prodigal DUKE returns to the club after three UK #1 singles ‘Need U (100%)’, ‘I Got U’ and ‘Wont Look Back’. Getting a number one single is an extraordinary achievement. Getting two is a whole other level...3…that shit cray. Even KLF, who literally wrote the book on how to write a #1 hit (The Manual) only managed to do it once. Duke Dumont's talent was first recognized in 2007 when Tiga signed his Regality EP, and further developed through the mentorship of Switch , but for years he seemed destined to stay under-the-radar, another brilliant artist toiling in relative obscurity, his fantastic remixes working wonders on dance-floors while his name was a footnote to the success of bigger names. All that started to change in 2012 with For Club Play Only Vol I & II through Tiga’s imprint Turbo, with 'Street Walker' getting a swell of underground support and 'The Giver' following up as one of the crossover club hits of the year. His follow-up launch of the Blasé Boys Club label with the #1 hit 'Need U (100%)' propelled him to instant stardom, and incredibly he managed to follow-up in rapid fire with interim single ' Hold On ' and then a second #1 in ‘ I Got U ft. Jax Jones’. It's an astonishing success story primed to continue with the forthcoming ‘ Won't Look Back'. So it comes as a welcome surprise to also get this third instalment of For Club Play Only , a return to stripped-down party bombs, with just enough hook to make the tracks unforgettable. 'Slow Dance' is a guaranteed floor-filler built from a killer bassline, sexy vocal sample, crisp drums and a wiggly acid outro. 'Mumble Man' is another infectious, instantly-gratifying hand-raiser, and possibly the best scat track since Scatman John. 'Nicht Vor Mitternacht ' sees the Duke flexing his EDM muscles, foregoing vocals for total synth domination, designed to work with the biggest hiss cannons the world has ever seen. Bonafide stadium wrecker. Finally, 'Drumapella ' is a dope DJ tool, a functional weapon to layer in the mix or leave in it's sparse banging glory.

Deep Down & Defected EP

Taken from his forthcoming Deep Down & Defected mix compilation Australian producer and Defected regular, Sonny Fodera, presents an exploration into the deeper side of house music, showcasing a three-track sampler featuring his brand new remixes of Reboot, Huxley & Shenoda and Johnny Corporate. Introducing itself with some thudding kicks and a crawling bass line, ‘Enjoy Music’ drives the diva vibe straight to the heart of the dance floor with its simple yet infectious vocal play. Soundscaping synth chords stretch gently as the room seems to get little darker with Huxley & Shenoda ‘Premier’ (Sonny Fodera Remix), and the bass drops heavily delivering an unexpected detonation of after-hour sensuality. Fodera’s remix of Johnny Corporate ‘Sunday Shoutin’ starts strong blending big gospel vocals with a bouncy bass line and piano arpeggio, while symphonic strings drive and emotions rise as Sonny gets down and definitely deep.

Mr Riddlz EP

Please welcome back Chicago native Fuzzy Cufflinxx aka Mr. Riddlz aka the one and only Bear Who? The duo of Ab Logic and Jesse Simons (aka The Hoodfellas) hook up here with Bear to transform his distinctive Hip-House style into an instant floor rocker 'The Dancer'. The original is the very definition of jackin’ house, and is complimented with remixes from Berlin’s wildest of beasts, Kris Wadsworth and Canadian jackmaster, Jason Hodges. On 'I Need Dat' Bear partners up with another of his Chicago brethren, namely Milty Evans, who underpins Bear’s hip house rhymes with masterful piano and organ sounds from the soul of Chicago. Four distinctive tracks on an EP of distinctive sounds and characters.

Urban Animal (Double Edition)

After unleashing his third LP ‘Urban Animal’ in September 2013, Claude VonStroke has been carefully clawing in the work of the auspicious for the release of the ‘Urban Animal Remixes’ LP. Always presenting a label-defining sound, the ‘Urban Animal’ LP from dirtybird founder Claude VonStroke is a snapshot of the future for the San Francisco label. The Remix LP goes 1 step further and introducing tastemakers with a similar effect on the future of electronic music. Introducing Solomon, Eprom, Dixon, Jimmy Edgar, Photek, Kill Frenzy, Justin Jay, Doorly, Krust, Tanner Ross and SCNTST to the urban jungle. This crack team has bolstered the original message of the album with clarity and creativity, each one of these revisions is a clarion call to the Urban Animal in us all. Alongside news of its release through etcetc in Australia on 30th May 2014, the ‘Urban Animal Remixes’ will come bundled with a free copy of the original ‘Urban Animal LP’. Also in water is the release of the infectious ghetto-tech single ‘Lay It Down’ featuring remixes from Jimmy Edgar, Kill Frenzy, Ballast Remix + VonStroke, and an Australian exclusive remix from Wordlife.

Quack

The veteran New York DJ team of A-Trak & Armand Van Helden first splashed on the scene as Duck Sauce in 2009, releasing the breakout hit "aNYway", a refreshing return to disco-house at a time when electronic music was essentially a distortion contest. The following year came "Barbra Streisand", with a So-Me directed video that became one of the most talked about cultural phenomena in dance history. With cameos from Kanye West, Pharrell Williams, ?uestlove, DJ Premier, Chromeo, Santigold and Ezra Koenig of Vampire Weekend, the song and video exploded, amassing millions of views on YouTube in just months (now at over 70 million), landing at #1 on charts all over the world, finding its way everywhere from shampoo commercials and video games to being covered on Glee and landing a Grammy nomination. In 2011, Duck Sauce cemented their reputation as house music's official video pranksters with "Big Bad Wolf" whose VMA-nominated clip (10 million views) managed to ride the line between crude shock value and ethereal surrealism. 2013's "It's You", an orgiastic barbershop revelry (6 million views) earned them yet another VMA nod. As the anticipation grew for their fabled debut album, they released the Duck Tape mixtape as one of the year's most critically lauded BBC Radio 1 Essential Mixes. Carefully calculating its live appearances -- albeit accompanied by a 20-foot inflatable duck -- the group maintained its enigmatic less-is-more approach with a perpetual smirk on their bills. 'Quack', Duck Sauce's full length studio debut is fueled by the duo’s strong connection with New York hip-hop, Chicago house, disco debauchery, slapstick comedy and, of course, UFOs. More Dr Octagon than Daft, tightly knit with skits worthy of early De La Soul records, 'Quack' is a fully immersive journey into the land of Duck: euphoric loops, mixtape cut-and-paste and conspiracy theories abound. (You'll also dance your ass off.) No other group is capable of bringing the rich and visual tradition of sample-heavy music into the current trends of pop and EDM of 2014. Stay tuned for more Duck Sauce news - and catch the duo at Coachella!
