After being taught to DJ by the one and only Ajax Dance Legend (R.I.P) Dan and his lil bro Beni went on to throw a little party called “Dangerous Dan and Bumpin Benny B’s Bargain Basement Booty Bar” they were joined by Ajax, Gus Da Hoodrat and Jaime Doom and evolved into “The Bang Gang” quickly becoming Sydney’s most infamous club night. The Bang Gang ran for 5 years and every Friday night became a home to a melting pot of Sydney’s tastemakers, cool kids and drag queens.
The Bang Gang DJ’s went on to national and international tours of the USA, UK and Europe, Japan and Asia, that included supporting Daft Punk on their Alive Tour of Australia in 2007. It was the best of times that suddenly became the worst of times. On February 28, 2013, the news came that AJAX had suddenly died in a tragic accident. The Bang Gang wouldn’t be the same without him, the boys decided to part ways and work solo projects. As a DJ, Dangerous Dan has played club nights and festivals in most major cities and a few unknown corners of the world. Sharing the decks and playing B2B with artists such as Tiga, 2ManyDJ’s, Justice, DJ Mehdi, Busy P, Erol Alkan, Mylo, Damian Lazarus, Art Department, Riton, Nervo, Ewan Pearson, A-Trak, Boyz Noize, Steve Aoki, Aeroplane, Felix The Housecat, Jamie Jones, Jesse Rose, Darren Emerson, Virgil Abloh, Stuart Price, The Scissor Sisters, James Murphy, LCD Soundsystem, The YYY’s, and many more. Playing late night club sets of underground house and disco to 300 people, or banging techno/main-room/dance whatever you wanna call it to festival crowds.
Whatever the time, whatever the occasion, Dangerous Dan makes people dance (and he can dance quite well himself) What it sounds like in the words of Dangerous himself: “No trainspotting, no all night deep house , no skank, no boredom, just pure fuckin party” As a producer, Dangerous Dan has worked with friends Nicky Night Time and Jimmy 2 Sox of Flight Facilities to release 5 records. With many many years’ worth of hard drives filled with the demos, edits and b-sides of friends unreleased music, Dangerous Dan and partner in crime Nicky Night Time have decided to make a record label so that they could share it all. It’s called MUSIC TO DANCE TO or M2D2 for short. With no specific genre or musical direction to the sound. There are only two strict rules: 1. There has to be a certain taste level to the music that can be described as “great” or “fuck yeah” 2. It has to be, as the name implies, MUSIC TO DANCE TO HOW TO END ? OR HOW TO RE-DO, that is the question…
