Multi-platinum selling DJ and producer Joel Fletcher continues his journey to fully-fledged artist and songwriter with his new single 'Where's The Love', out February 23rd via Hussle. Showcasing his depth as a writer and producer, the heartfelt song marks an important artistic milestone for the young Melbournian and yet another exciting progression from his roots in the Melbourne Bounce genre.
Joel describes how the song came together: "When I was touring in Europe recently I did a writing session with Glen Faria who is a super talented singer/songwriter from Amsterdam. I played him a couple of different ideas to work on and we both caught a vibe on this song. We basically wrote the whole song in a couple of hours which was crazy! Believe it or not this was the first time I had actually jammed in the studio with a singer/songwriter; it was an insane experience and something I'll definitely be doing more of. I'm super stoked on how the record evolved and turned out and I can't wait for everyone to get their ears around it! "
Born and raised in Melbourne, Australia, the prodigal son of Melbourne's underground dance music scene began DJing at the age of 14 and achieved his first club residency by the age of 16. Having landed in the top 3 of the inthemix Australia DJ awards in 2014, the rise to the top for Joel Fletcher has occurred at lightning speed, with the home-grown talent now playing over 200+ shows around the globe each year, gracing the world's most prestigious venues and biggest festivals.
With a discography that strikes a balance between both underground and commercial hits, Joel broke onto the airwaves in 2013 with his collaboration with fellow Melbourne producer Will Sparks, 'Bring It Back'. The track reached platinum sales in Australia and made commercial radio stand up and take notice of the burgeoning Melbourne Bounce scene, paving the way for many artists to follow.
Joel Fletcher then became a house-hold name with his ARIA Award-nominated, 4 x platinum smash-hit 'Swing' featuring Savage that proved to be an inescapable track – reaching #2 on the ARIA charts, getting added to every radio network in the country and coming in as one of the most played tracks on Australian commercial radio for that year.
Joel's impact can be felt in the productions of many of his peers including Will Sparks, TJR and Deorro, as well as in the sound of a huge selection of aspiring producers both within Australia and beyond. Fletcher has also attracted the ears of the dance music world with his originals and huge remixes, leading him to collaborate with and remix some of the world's biggest acts - Deorro, 360, Halsey, Henry Fong, R3HAB and Vinai to name a few. His 2017 collaboration with Tyron Hapi, 'Smooth Operator', has had over a million streams on Spotify and his 2016 track 'Obsessed' featuring Bianca has amassed over 2 million streams on Spotify alone.
