Hailed by Run The Trap as "One To Watch in 2018", this year finds 18-year-old Blue Mountains local Leotrix on an exciting tip; tearing up the standard bass music blueprint and digging into his experimental core. Known for pushing the boundaries of sound design as we know it, the youngster is irrepressibly drawn to this creative axis as a prodigy and as a rebel.
Leotrix's new release, 'Swimboy' featuring Danish singer-songwriter Kinck, showcases his diverse production skills by creating a bright and sparkly pop/bass hybrid of grand proportions. A constant stream of cutting edge sound design, utopian chords and glimmering plucks flow effortlessly underneath Kinck's radiant vocals to create a one-of-a-kind musical gem.
'Swimboy' is already being spun on triple j and has picked up an official addition from triple j Unearthed where it's climbing the charts. Leotrix will soon head off on his debut Australian tour and following from that release he backs it right up with an Enschway collaboration plus a steady flow of originals and collabs with some of the world's hottest electronic acts.
Producing since the age of 12, Leotrix has honed his skills to display a signature sound that encompasses infectious topline leads, crunching drum patterns and luscious melodic soundscapes. The message in his music is clear "I try to show everything around me through my music and ultimately I want to take people on an emotional journey to different places and memories... I want them to FEEL something and overall I want it to always be fun."
With huge dreams and aspirations, Leotrix is undoubtedly one to watch and the beauty of it all is that this is just the beginning for this inspired young talent.
